Hey colonials! There will be a student walkout starting at 10:00 AM Parkland shooting and protest government inaction. The color of the march will be ORANGE, representing change. Whether or not you are participating in the walkout, deck out in orange to support the CHANGE needed in our country to prevent such future tragedies: #neveragain.
At 10:00 A.M., students who would like to participate in the walkout will leave their 5th period class and march to the football stadium. There, students will have 17 minutes to honor the victims and/or share their reaction to the tragedy through speeches, songs, poetry, and other forms of expression. If you would like to publicly share your thoughts during the walkout, please complete the following google form: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfaALdJqui5inCzJZIW4OpyKA2gZBf2Jh-gMJ9Zsyzxjm33Bg/viewform.
Remember, as a student you have the RIGHT to protest. If you feel strongly about this issue, participate in this walkout. Make signs. Use your voice. Wear every orange piece of clothing you own. Make your representatives HEAR YOUR VOICE.
Lastly, please keep in mind the serious nature of the event. Do not use the walkout as a time to skip school or as an excuse to go to Starbucks. We are honoring the 17 victims of a tragic school shooting—let’s keep that in mind as we show the world what this issue means to us.
Note: TJ SGA is apolitical, and we support any political message you may have at this rally.
