Handsome Hound

There's a reason Handsome Hound has been called the «musical version of 60 mg of Prozac.» Handsome Hound's danceable, lyric-driven music has its roots in folk, rock, pop, americana, and country — think Johnny & June Carter Cash meet Shovels & Rope. The band released its critically acclaimed debut EP, I Guess We're Doing Alright, in March 2016, which included the hit single «Hannah.» Since then, the band has played in historic venues in DC — including the John F. Kennedy Center for the Arts, Rock & Roll Hotel, and Black Cat — and toured up and down the East Coast.

The band will release its first LP, Mountain on Fire, AT THIS SHOW. The anticipated album, engineered by Beat Baby Studios (Wye Oak, Lower Dens) and mastered by Sarah Register (Big Thief, The Shins), will include many of the songs that audiences have come to know the band for, including «Carina» and «Austin.» Lead vocalists Claire Daviss and Cuchulain Kelly will be sharing these songs in major cities throughout the East Coast on their Summer 2018 tour.

— DuPont Brass

DuPont Brass is a unique, soulful, brass ensemble hailing from the D.C. Metropolitan Area. Originally composed of five music majors from Howard University trying to raise money for tuition during the Christmas season, they have now grown to a 8-piece ensemble consisting of brass, a rhythm section, and vocalists. Gaining popularity from playing at local Metro stations, DuPont Brass started out professionally playing for weddings, banquets, and other private events in the surrounding area. Thanks to the foundation laid in their earlier years, DuPont Brass has had the opportunity to perform in conjunction with the D.C. Jazz Festival and on the prestigious Kennedy Center Millennium Stage. Consistently touching the hearts of the community with their heartwarming testimony, DuPont Brass has been featured on WPFW's “Live at Five” three times and featured in the Washington Post Newspaper five times. Through their training in both classical and contemporary styles, the young group has developed a sound that mixes varied genres of music, including jazz, hip-hop, and R&B. Their latest release entitled Eclectic Soul is a testament to that sound. Overall, the mission of DuPont Brass is to uplift the spirits of people with their music, not just in the DMV area, but across the world.

— Lauren Calve

Virginia native Lauren Calve is a Washington, D.C. area singer-songwriter, guitar and lap steel player who has brought a vital new energy to the Americana scene. She has become a mainstay at prominent local and regional venues, and is honored to have opened for artists like Sean Watkins of Nickel Creek, Cruz Contreras of The Black Lillies, Charlie Worsham and Wade Bowen. In addition to her solo material, which she performs intimately by herself, with an accompanying guitarist, or with a rocking full band, she is also a member of D.C.’s exciting new Americana “super group” Run Come See. Building on the vibrant blend of blues, country and rock that continues to shape Calve’s musical vision, she has just released “Light Dark", her sophomore solo record, available now everywhere.
