In honor of Earth Week 2018, come hear dynamic speaker and environmental activist Bea Johnson talk about how to live a life of less waste.
This will be visually-rich and upbeat discussion with best-selling author Bea Johnson as she shares her tribulations and secrets to achieving Zero Waste and the importance of the 5R's (Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rot). During her talk, Bea will shatter misconceptions and discuss how a Zero Waste lifestyle can lead to significant health benefits, as well as time and money savings. She will bring the sometimes intimidating topic of Zero Waste down to a manageable scale. Upon exiting the train at the Van Ness-UDC station, follow the signs for 'West Side, UDC', and take the escalator to the street level. A Starbucks will be immediately on your left and Connecticut Ave., NW will be on your right. The UDC Student Center will be directly behind you, identifiable by a large silver sign.
Parking Information: Parking at UDC is limited and expensive, so we recommed public transportation, BikeShare, or Lyft/ Uber as an alternative for locals. For those driving, you can navigate to 3303 Van Ness St, DC 20008 to access the UDC below-ground parking garage. Parking at the UDC garage is $20 for 3 hours. Very limited street parking is also available. To reserve affordable parking near the UDC campus, we recommend using Parking Panda.
The Venue: Enter the UDC Student Center from the street level, which is 'Level B'. Take the main elevator to 'Level 1', turn left upon exiting the elevator, and The Ballroom will be directly in front of you.
