What's better than Valentine's Day?? Galentine's Day!
Come be our palentine and celebrate our favorite fictional (but also very real) holiday with us. We'll be celebrating queer love, platonic love, cinematic love, etc with a screening of one of our favorite «films» aka the only happy Black Mirror episode.
Join us and Dyke Bar Takeover DC for happy hour before the film to meet some new gal pals, grab a drink and/or food, and claim your seat!
What's more? Bring an item to support DBT's featured non-profit I Support the Girls and be entered to win a personal pizza and pitcher of draft beer to share with friends! (Or not, we don't judge).
I Support the Girls is a non-profit dedicated to providing bras and menstrual hygiene products to homeless individuals who need them. Like you, we know that gender > genitals and not every menstruating person identifies as female, nor does every female menstruate. However, regardless of gender identity, menstruating individuals should never have to choose between a meal and the products they need to be healthy. Every donation matters, so please help us support this worthy cause!
**Screening starts at 8pm**
There will be a bar in the back room, kitchen is open till 9:30pm, and there’s table service in the front if you want to make it a date night.
Do not let the name Galentine's stop you from coming if you don't identify as a gal. QGMN strives to focus on the representation of queer women in film, but this does not limit who is invited to this space. Pals of all gender identities are welcomed and loved <3
About the name:
*We say queer girl/grrrl because the movies we show are about queer women, and the point is to create space for queer women to feel safe and comfortable. All people who identify within the queer spectrum are welcome to attend.
About the space:
The screening will be held in the back party room of Comet Ping Pong. Comet is on the corner of Connecticut Ave NW and Nebraska Ave NW. There's both an entrance with stairs and a ramp which is ADA accessible. It's a 15 minute walk east of the Tenleytown Metro Station (red line) or north of the Van Ness Metro Station (red line). The L1, L2, and M4 buses take you directly to the front of it and the E4 and E6 stops a 10 minute walk away on Western Ave.
The episode will be shown with captions. If you have any questions/concerns about accessibility, please message us! We will do all that we can to accommodate you.
All Ages. No Jerks. Please be respectful of the space. Queer Girl Movie Night is free and always will be.
Invite all your queer gal pals!
