On Sunday, January 18th, 2004, the pilot of a Showtime show that would shape the depiction of queer women on television premiered. That show is...The L Word.
Whether you’re one of the girls in tight dresses who drag with mustaches or chicks driving fast/ingenues with long lashes (you know the rest), let's show our love for this groundbreaking TV show together by watching the pilot of The L Word!
We'll start screening the pilot (episodes 1 and 2) at 6:30 pm, but come hang with us before for some good food, drinks, and company and we'll keep the episodes going till the end of the night!
About the name:
*We say queer girl because we want to focus on the representation of queer women in film and create a safe space for queer women. All people who identify within the queer spectrum are welcome to attend!
About the space:
Queer Grrrl Movie Night will be at our favorite hair-metal inspired bar/restaurant, Slash Run! It’s located on the corner of Upshur street right by Rock Creek Church Road (201 Upshur St NW, Washington, DC 20011). It's a 15 minute walk from the Georgia Ave-Petworth metro, and near the 60, H8, and 70 bus stops.
The screening will be shown with captions. If you have any questions/concerns about accessibility please message us! We will do all that we can to accommodate you.
All Ages. No Jerks. Please be respectful of the space. Queer Girl Movie Night is free and always will be.
Invite all your queer gal pals!
