Eli Lev & The Fortunes Found
Born in Washington, D.C. and raised by the world, Eli Lev is a traveler, self-proclaimed folk hero, and a passionate musician.
Eli performs as a solo artist and now with his new band, The Fortunes Found — featuring the powerful rhythms of DC all-star drummer Michael Miraglia; big bass tones of wunderkind bassist Bojan Novevski from Macedonia, and mandolin player Corey Thuro from Baltimore who explores the brave tones afforded to him by his expansive pedal board. A new addition is Dante Frisiello, who contributes perfect lead guitar licks to compliment the lush Americana sound.
Eli’s infectious musicality, commitment to deep grooves, and soulful charisma foster an immersive experience for the audience that moves bodies and hearts. With the full-band-sound of Fortunes Found, his live shows are becoming the hottest ticket on the DC music scene.
“When I’ve been on the road, and I can’t speak the language, I’ve always been able to play a song and suddenly everyone’s singing and dancing. There’s a connection there, and, in that instant, there is a community,” marvels the Washington, D.C.-based artist.
— Kentucky Avenue Music
Carving a place in the modern Americana scene, Washington DC-based Kentucky Avenue features at its core the rich and rootsy blend of Stella Schindler’s powerfully poetic vocals and the melodic guitar musings of Dave Ries.
When their voices come together, the timeless harmonies provide a poignant, sometimes playful backdrop to their lyrics that evoke the idea behind Leonard Cohen’s famous line “there’s a crack in everything/ that’s how the light gets in.” Kentucky Avenue’s stories of broken characters are imbued with hope, illuminated by the moonlight present in many of the layered lines of their lyrics.
