Rally to Save Bethesda African Cemetery @ Macedonia Baptist Church, Bethesda [12 November]

Rally to Save Bethesda African Cemetery

13:30 - 15:30

 Facebook event page
Macedonia Baptist Church
5119 River Rd, Bethesda, Maryland 20816

Please join us as we rally at Macedonia Baptist Church then march across River Road to the Moses Cemetery to save this hallowed ground. This cemetery houses the bodies of 1st generation freed enslaved persons and their descendants. It is unconscionable that the county is even considering building a parking garage on top of their bodies. We need you to SHOW UP to let the county know that we will not allow the desecration of this sacred ground.

'Our community is horrified that first generation free Africans, whose bodies were bought and sold at slave markets in Maryland should, after 140 years be bought again by a $14 billion corporation and sold again by Montgomery County.”
—Robert Dyer, Bethesda journalist
