A native of Richmond, Virginia and a product of Howard University, Kia made her introduction into the entertainment while singing with former Washington D.C. group «Entyme» along with other respected soul/jazz artists Geno Young, Sy Smith, and Yahzarah. Kia is a member of the new school RAMP (Roy Ayers Music Production) whose musical contributions provided the world with samples for hits like A Tribe Called Quest's «Bonita Applebum», Mary J. Blige's «My Life» and Erykah Badu's «Amerykah's Promise». Ms. Bennett is best noted for her soothing background vocals which blessed international recording artists D'Angelo, Ledisi, Russell Taylor, Michael Bolton, Angela Stribling, Julie Dexter, and Deborah Bond.

In 2015, Kia made her debut performance at the famed Bohemian Caverns Jazz Club and the legendary Blues Alley Jazz Supper Club in Washington, D.C. These two lovely evenings were welcomed with four sold out performances. In 2016, Kia performed in her hometown of Richmond, Virginia through The Richmond Jazz Society’s Guest Educator Series, where she gave 2 sold out shows as well. She recently performed at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, The Richmond Jazz Festival At Maymont, Drom, The Shrine, Gin Fizz, and Silvana in New York.

Kia was nominated for 2012 Best New Artist for SoulTracks Readers Choice Awards. Kia is also a Board Member and Governor of The Washington D.C. Chapter of the Recording Academy (Grammys) and a member of ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers). She currently has an EP entitled, Duet of Daffodils and is currently working on her full length album. New magical music to come.
