Cinematery's 2017 theme is film noir, featuring dark and mysterious whodunits. Join us on the cemetery grounds for a screening of Double Indemnity, starring Fred MacMurray and Barbara Stanwyck. BYOB and dinner, too. Gates open at 7:30 pm and the movie begins around 8:30, or dusk. $10 suggested donation at the main gate.
For our August Cinematery, we have special pre-movie tours: congressionalcemetery.ticketleap.com/cinematery-twilight-tours-aug17/
Make the most out of your Cinematery experience and join us for the ultimate sneak preview. Our gates open at 7:30 to the public for this event, but a few special guests can get in early to take an evening stroll through Congressional Cemetery's sprawling 35 acres, guided by one of our expert Dozen Decent Docents. For your Cinematery Twilight Tour ticket, you receive entrance into Cinematery (typically a $10 donation), a glass of wine/beer, and a one-hour guided tour highlighting the Cemetery's quirky and little-mentioned spots. A little history, a little wine, and a classic movie — certainly you can't beat that for a DC date night.
Guests can plant blankets and chairs in their preferred spot for the movie, and can leave any food or heavy items in the Chapel during the tour. Important: Please arrive 15-20 minutes prior to your scheduled tour time (or even earlier) in order to ensure adequate time to check in, drop supplies, and grab beverages. In case of rain, tour tickets will be either honored for our rain date (August 19th) or our September Cinematery event (September 22nd). We are unable to offer refunds or transfer tickets for other reasons.
No dogs, please!
Although it is an outdoor space, please no smoking while seated around others watching the movie.
In case of a downpour or severe weather, please watch the website and our social media accounts for updated information about rain delays or cancellations.
