Maplehouse Collective presents…

Janel Leppin — With a musical style as unique as it is captivating, cellist, vocalist and composer Janel Leppin is a highly developed, innovative artist. Through intense devotion to craft, Janel fuses flawless technicality with boundless, creativity moving far beyond the conventions of her instruments to make music which exists in uncharted sonic territories.

Janel's diverse musical interests, innovations and virtuosic ability have caught the attention of dozens of celebrated artists with whom she has collaborated. Some of these collaborators include Eyvind Kang, Oren Ambarchi, Marissa Nadler, Kyp Malone, Susan Alcorn, Skuli Sverrison, Gino Robair, and Randall Dunn. She has appeared on albums for Touch, Sub Pop, Cuneiform, Tzadik and Editions Mego Ideologic Organ, Tompkins Square and many others. In addition to recordings, Janel is an active participant in the experimental music community, and when she isn't touring internationally, she plays in a multitude of groups in Washington D.C. and up and down the east coast.

John Lindaman is perhaps best known for his 20 year-long association with Teen-Beat Records as a creator of timeless pop classics with American indie rock band True Love Always, but his recent string of releases of solo guitar improvisations using simple looping, inexpensive guitar effects and prepared guitar techniques showcase his deep roots in the avant-garde.

Luciernaga is the guitar-centric ambient recording project of Joao M. Da Silva. He began making treated guitar recordings in 2010, after moving to the Gowanus neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. As Luciernaga, Joao has released a series of cassettes, vinyl, CD-Rs, and also provided music for video features on The New Yorker magazine website, the Stringer's End web series and, most recently, Circle In The Rock, a short film directed by Ellis Bahl and starring Brandon Sexton III.

Mike Nigro is an electronic musician and label operator based in Brooklyn, New York. His solo practice draws inspiration from the minimalists, early synthesizer pioneers, and contemporary experimental underground, aiming to thread the needle between musicality and noise; movement and stasis; synthetics and organics.
