Join us Fri Sept. 1 at Gypsy Sally's to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Pink Floyd's classic album, «Animals.» Eat Yer Meat: Pink Floyd Tribute will play the album in its entirety, along with a set of Floyd favorites. Opening the night will be DC's own favorite Phish tribute, The Last Rewind.
EAT YER MEAT: PINK FLOYD TRIBUTE
Featuring members of DC/Baltimore acts ELM, Moogatu, Psycho Killers, Second Self, and Staycation, Eat Yer Meat puts its own spin on Pink Floyd classics. In true homage to the masters of psychedelic rock, the group skillfully uses the Floyd catalogue as a springboard for energetic and exploratory improvisation, all while preserving the integrity of the original song form. The end result is a sound that’s engaging and new, yet familiar. This ain’t your dad’s Floyd tribute.
THE LAST REWIND: PHISH TRIBUTE
The Last Rewind is the latest side project of an all-star conglomerate of DC-area musicians. Brian Zupruk (Moogatu, Eat Yer Meat), Jason Skeen (Covered with Jam), Brian Dodds, and Dave Salvo (Buddha Cons, The Beirds) formed The Last Rewind in summer 2014 to play some tunes and play them well damnit! Over the last few months, the band made the conscious decision — in contrast to an unconscious or subconscious decision — to be a Phish tribute project. The reason was simple: people in the DC area happen to like Phish and the DC area lacked a Phish tribute band. Too easy.
In their primary bands, the members of The Last Rewind have played numerous festivals and graced the stages of The State Theatre, Gypsy Sally's, The 8x10, and Rock and Roll Hotel, and have shared bills with moe., Lettuce, and Blues Traveler.
