— Watch, learn, and dance at this community celebration of National Dance Day! Launched in 2010 by The Dizzy Feet Foundation (co-founded by So You Think You Can Dance’s Nigel Lythgoe and Adam Shankman) and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, National Dance Day encourages Americans to embrace dance as a fun and positive way to maintain good health. 2 p.m. — National Dance Day activities
National Dance Day will feature special guest dancers, interactive dance lessons, and performances in a wide variety of dance styles, all hosted by WUSA 9’s news anchor and multi-Emmy Award® winner Andrea Roane. The official National Dance Day routine for this year’s event will be led by Top 20 So You Think You Can Dance contestant Tony Bellissimo. Acclaimed choreographer/director/producer Adam Shankman (Hairspray; the Step Up franchise) will also join the D.C. festivities.
6 p.m. — A special Millennium Stage performance in the Grand Foyer
7:30 p.m. — Dancing Under the Stars
The return of our popular summer night social kicks off with a beginner-level swing dance lesson by Gottaswing, followed by two hours of dancing with The Tom Cunningham Orchestra.

Local students of the DEA Youth Dance Program, part of the Dizzy Feet Community Partner Program of the DEA Educational Foundation
High-energy steppers from the Howard University Step Team
A Bob Fosse-inspired Jazz class with local teacher Bob Boross
Instruction in traditional Chinese dance with the Fairfax Chinese Dance Troupe, a non-profit group dedicated to sharing Chinese art and culture
Artists of Open Circle Theatre, D.C.’s first professional theater dedicated to producing professional productions that integrate the considerable talents of artists with disabilities *due to injury, these artists will be unable to perform
Performances by Columbia Heights based-studio Dance Institute of Washington to the music of Marvin Gaye
Renowned D.C.–based dance company Bowen McCauley Dance with a program tailored for persons with Parkinson’s Disease and their care-partners
Culture Shock, a D.C.–based Hip Hop crew
Bhangra ensemble Top Naach
Afro-Brazilian rhythms with the all-female band Batalá Washington
Abada Capoeira DC, which promotes the Afro-Brazilian martial art of capoeira
